Helium 10 Alibaba Chrome Extension Update – Simplify your product research

Helium 10 Alibaba

Identifying a potential product is only one aspect of product research.  If you aren’t able to get this product manufactured at a reasonable price and of great quality, then it’s not a product worth selling. So, when going through your product research, it’s very important to be verifying how much it’ll cost you to source this new product, and get a sense for how many suppliers are manufacturing it (for other sellers). The new Helium 10 Alibaba features can help you do all of this more efficiently!

The largest supplier of private label goods for Amazon sellers is Alibaba.com  There you can find an enormous collection of manufacturers for nearly any product you want to sell. However, doing product research in one tab, and then checking out competition on Amazon in another tab, and then checking Alibaba in yet another tab can get a bit overwhelming and isn’t overly efficient.

Well, Helium 10 just launched new features to its free Chrome extension to help make this entire process much more streamlined. Welcome to the Helium 10 Alibaba Chrome extension update!

Supplier Finder

The first new tool added to the Chrome extension is the Alibaba Supplier Finder. When you perform a search on Amazon and run Helium 10’s X-ray tool, you will now notice a button at the top of the X-ray window which reads “Source on Alibaba.com”.  Clicking that button will open another overlay window, pulling in results from Alibaba regarding suppliers who manufacture the product you’re searching.

The results that are shown have been pre-sorted by Helium 10 to put the most relevant sellers with the highest ratings near the top.

If the product you’re sourcing is popular, there could be hundreds of suppliers to sift through. To make it a little more manageable, you can use the various filter features within the Supplier Finder to narrow down your search.

You can filter the supplier results by:

  • Price range
  • MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)
  • Vendor Rating
  • Supplier Country
  • Vendor Type (Manufacturer, Trading company, or both)
  • Age of the Alibaba Account
  • “Only Ready to Ship”
  • “Only Verified Supplier”

You may have a number of reasons to use these filters. If you don’t have a large budget, you may want to find a low price range that also has a low MOQ to keep costs down. Perhaps you want to mitigate risks and only want to work with a Verified supplier who has a high rating.

The choice is yours how you choose to implement the filters, but they will help you narrow down the results to find a supplier that is right for you and your business.

Demand Analyzer

The second new feature of the Chrome Extension flips everything on its head.

Let’s say instead of searching for product ideas on Amazon, you instead decide to peruse Alibaba.com to see what inspires you.  You find a potential product idea, but now you don’t know the demand and metrics from Amazon. You could take that keyword and search for it on Amazon, and then run X-ray to get it all, OR you could simply run the Helium 10 Alibaba Demand Analyzer.

This Chrome extension feature allows you to run it from the Alibaba search pages. It will pull in information from Helium 10 about the demand on Amazon!  You will be presented with that keyword’s search volume, the total revenue of the top sellers, the average revenue per seller, and the average listing price.

Clicking the “See all metrics” link will open up this keyword in the Blackbox – Niche tool so you can get more data about this market.

You also get a list of related keywords with their search volumes so you can get an idea for the market demand at a glance. This is extremely helpful to identify if the longer-tail keywords are also being searched for.

Clicking the “See full keyword list” link will open up Helium 10’s Magnet tool to run a search on the given keyword and show all related keywords with their metrics.

The Demand Analyzer will also display some of the top products for this keyword, as well as the word frequency counts found within the top listings.  Using these two areas can help you identify what your listing would need to contain in order to compete against the top sellers.

The Demand Analyzer allows you to get a high level overview of a particular market without the need of flipping back and forth between browser tabs to verify information.  You can do all of this from a single window to see if it’s a market worth pursuing.
